Ann Goldman, Nonprofit Consultant

Focusing your efforts so you can thrive.

My professional roots are in Chicago’s nonprofit community where I was lucky enough to build my career in some of the city’s most prestigious institutions. Today, I am a co-founder of Front Range Source and serve a national clientele from my home in the Rocky Mountain foothills of Colorado.

I have been a consultant since 2000. Before that, I served as:

  • Director of Corporate, Foundation and Government relations at the Museum of Science and Industry where I oversaw an annual $11 million corporate, foundation and government fundraising program and led a comprehensive capital campaign for the U-505 submarine.
  • Midwest Regional Campaign Director for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation’s $100 million research campaign where I oversaw major gift fundraising in twelve markets.
  • Director of Major Gifts at the Children’s Memorial Hospital Foundation in Chicago.
  • I also helped establish the Chicago office of Barnes & Roche, Inc., a fundraising consulting firm, where I helped numerous clients with annual and capital fundraising projects.

I have a particular passion for teaching and offer workshops through Front Range Source every month. In addition, I have developed curriculum and taught for such organizations as Chicago’s Nonprofit Financial Center, the Colorado Nonprofit Association, Donors Forum of Chicago, the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and Northwestern University’s School of Continuing Studies.

I also have a strong background in writing, having developed case statements, proposals and other communications materials for dozens of organizations. My favorite writing project was a collaboration with my husband, photographer Andrew Goldman, on the book Facing North: Portraits of Ely, Minnesota, released by the University of Minnesota Press in spring of 2008.

Board service has been an essential learning experience for me and a great opportunity to give back to my community. I have served on the board of Impact on Education in Boulder, Colorado, on the advisory board of the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust in Oak Park, Illinois, and on the board of directors of the Chicago Foundation for Women. I was a founding board member of Wonder Works, a children’s museum in Oak Park. I also served as a director of the Community Chest of Oak Park and River Forest and served two terms on the board of directors of the Chicago Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

I am a graduate of the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England where I received my B.A. with Honors in Philosophy. And, yes, I continue to find what I learned through Philosophy extremely useful!
